Christmas celebrations the Brazilian way

Brazilians in São Paulo take Christmas seriously. A few of us found out first hand tonight how big the holiday is by watching a Christmas themed water show at Ibirapuera Park, the largest park in the city. The mass of onlookers was somewhat overwhelming and felt even bigger when trying to navigate the winding, steep streets.

The five of us took the metro and hopped a cab over to the park.

The trees’ limbs were coated in lights, illuminating the water in front of them.

A plethora of children and adults alike climbed a prominent statue on the street parallel to the water.

Thousands showed up to Ibirapuera park to see the streams of water, glowing with light, shoot from the surface.
